Mitsubishi Chemical restarted its polycarbonate capacity expansion plan

with the random affirmation of the world's chemical demand, the inspected publishing units in provinces (regions and cities) are gradually warming up, Mitsubishi Chemical will restart its global polycarbonate capacity expansion plan in the near future

in August last year, Mitsubishi Chemical and Sinopec Group established a joint venture in Beijing Yanshan Petrochemical Company, which plans to build 60000 T/a polycarbonate and 150000 T/a bisphenol A units. The joint venture project of the two sides was originally scheduled to be completed and put into operation in the spring of 2010, but the production time was postponed to the spring of 2011 for some reasons. The joint venture is 50% owned by Sinopec and 50% owned by Mitsubishi Chemical Company and its Mitsubishi engineering plastics company. In addition, Mitsubishi Chemical's 60000 ton/year polycarbonate project in Kurosaki, Japan, will also be put into operation in April 2010

affected by the global economic recession in 2008, the demand for polycarbonate decreased, so Mitsubishi Chemical postponed the production period of the project. However, since the spring of 2009, the Asian polycarbonate market, especially the Chinese market, has rebounded rapidly, and the demand has even exceeded the peak set in 2007. Mitsubishi Chemical immediately decided to restart a series of polycarbonate new construction and capacity expansion projects to further expand its global market share

it is reported that Mitsubishi Chemical announced in June last year that it would restructure its petrochemical business, withdraw from caprolactam and styrene monomer business, and exchange polycarbonate and nylon business with DSM - DSM would acquire the nylon business of Mitsubishi Chemical, a renewable material, while DSM's polycarbonate business would be replaced by Mitsubishi Chemical. Nowadays, after Mitsubishi Chemical obtained DSM polycarbonate business, adopting different testing methods will help to strengthen its polycarbonate business in the world
